We left early because of the nighttime noise of loud music and singing. It was still the navidad season for family and friends partying which continues into January. Noise was diminished after JAN 15 but still annoying some nights. Basically we weren't accustomed to loud music until 2 AM. For our needs, we were in the wrong place during the navidad festivities.

The location was walking distance to some good restaurants, gyms, and grocery stores. Plus Viva Envigado, a huge mall, is nearby.

Ruy was communicative, helped with issues, and had good local recommendations for food. Truly a great host.

Things I wish I would have known for any stay longer than one week:
Bedroom: the bed is a futon, not a mattress (and gave my partner a backache), had to put blanket over the blinds to make it dark enough to sleep past 6 am
Kitchen: Oven doesn't work, understocked with cooking equipment, dish rack is rusty
Living room: Couch was a bit stained (Ruy said he will wash it after I leave so should be fixed!)
Noise: As others noted, the apartment has a bar downstairs and I heard music most days 5 pm - 12 am

I really enjoyed my stay, just wanted others to have all the info when making long-term stay decisions

Pros:

- Safe neighborhood. Envigado is considered one of the safest neighborhoods in Medellin. I felt safe walking alone at all hours.
- Fast internet. I got around 70Mbs.
- Comfortable couch.
- Nice private rooftop.

Cons:
- It was a bit loud. To be fair, I stayed the month of December which is very festive in Medellin. That being said, I would often hear loud music being played outside until the early hours of the morning, and the windows didn't do much to block the noise.

Was very easy & cheap to Uber over to El Poblado/other areas I wanted to see. Ruy was super accommodating to help get me access to the apartment late at night even though he wasn’t in town and he gave so many useful tips for the neighborhood. This was most appreciated as I was traveling alone and it was my first time in the country. Wish I had more days to spend there - hope to come back to Colombia again very soon!

The neighborhood was very... read more safe and walkable with many nice restaurants, the metro, the mall and the town center all within walking distance. It's also just near the border of Poblado so only a short Uber or Taxi ride away from the popular tourist areas as well as some nice nature excursions. I love that it's a more local vibe and you can experience the culture much better in this area. I absolutely love Envigado and feel it's the perfect location in the valley to stay. Ruy had great communication and offered a lot of good information, recommendations and tips. I look forward to returning in the future and highly recommend this place.

This listing's interior design is very unique, and, in my opinion, very stylish. There is a lot of wooden furniture, and some great photography by Ruy's father. The kitchen cabinets are wood too, and a large part of the kitchen has a mosaic, placed tile by tile by Ruy's father. The place feels very warm and authentic. For me this was crucial, as I spent quite a bit of time working from here.

Ordering food to the place is easy via Rappi. You're a 10 minute walk away from Parque Envigado, kind of a square surrounded by many shops and restaurants. The chess players there are easy-going, friendly and invited me for many games.

The area is safe and great to walk around. I walked to Central Mayorista a bunch of times to score the most delicious fruits, including mangosteen and rambutan. The internet is very fast and stable, with only 1 or 2 short drop-outs over the course of a month. I had no problems doing heavy work.

Overall highly recommended!
